CBDA is the raw acidic precursor of CBD found in fresh cannabis and hemp plants. Heating above 110°C rapidly converts it to CBD via decarboxylation, so CBDA products must remain unheated to preserve potency. In vitro and animal research shows CBDA has approximately 100-fold greater affinity for the 5-HT1A serotonin receptor compared to CBD and exhibits selective COX-2 enzyme inhibition. These mechanisms underlie its reported anti-nausea, anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic properties. Human anecdotal reports describe a clear-headed, mildly uplifting effect without intoxication.
