Prazepam

Prazepam is a long-acting benzodiazepine prodrug that metabolizes into desmethyldiazepam (nordazepam), which has a very long half-life and is responsible for most therapeutic effects. This results in prolonged duration and potential for accumulation with repeated dosing. Tolerance, dependence, and benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome are significant risks with long-term use. Abrupt discontinuation after extended use can be dangerous and may cause seizures. Not recommended for individuals with respiratory depression, substance abuse history, or during pregnancy.
