DOI is a psychedelic amphetamine of the DOx family. First described in the scientific literature in 1973, it was later documented in detail by Alexander Shulgin in PiHKAL (1991). DOI is among the most potent phenethylamine psychedelics and is notable for its exceptionally long duration, which can prevent sleep for 24 hours or more. It is widely used in scientific research as a radioligand for mapping serotonin 5-HT2A receptors in the brain.
