Triazolam is a short-acting benzodiazepine of the triazolobenzodiazepine subclass, primarily used as a hypnotic agent for the short-term management of insomnia. It is distinguished by its notably brief half-life compared to many other benzodiazepines and does not produce active metabolites. At higher doses, it may induce significant amnesia and lowered inhibitions. Like all benzodiazepines, triazolam carries a risk of habit formation and dependence.
