Drug Purity Report #36/26. In this edition of the “last week on drugs”, more concerning news from the drug market. PMMA continues to be detected in Western and Central Europe, same as novel synthetic benzodiazepines and cannabinoids.

1. PMMA has been again confirmed in Austria, this time in “555” pills. We are reminding readers that PMMA is an extremely dangerous substance, particularly prone to easily cause overdose results such as a serotonin syndrome. Multiple pill designs have been detected with PMMA this year already, most without any additional compounds, which proves home testing kits particularly efficient at spotting the bunk tablets.
2. Etizolam is still around. A sample confirmed in Maribor, Slovenia, contained over 4 mg, a heavy dose. Unexpectedly strong benzodiazepines pose significant risk of addiction, injury and overall risky behaviour. We strongly recommend to never use such compounds without the care of an appropriate physician.
3. 9β-hydroxy Hexahydrocannabinol – rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it? Every week brings about new synthetic cannabinoids being synthesized on the black market. Due to the abundance of CBD products, manufacturing of fakes have completely take over both grey and black market, particularly hash and other preprocessed products. HHC unfortunately at this moment is hard to detect without a lab analysis service, which we strongly recommend to check – already over 200 spots over the world allow you to test your drugs.

Drug Purity Report #35/26. Welcome to “last week on drugs”, the blog post series by PRO Test bringing you weekly reporting on drug market purity. In this week’s edition: red alert PMMA warnings from the Netherlands, new benzodiazepines and spotlight on amphetamine impurities.

1. Many ecstasy pills pressed with an unusual Donald Trump’s face have recently been found to contain PMMA instead of MDMA. On 28 August the Trimbos Institute in the Netherlands issued a national Red Alert over them. Three reached this week’s data, in blue and yellow, green and pink and red, all reported by Trimbos. All drug checking alerts published are warnings, with PMMA being particularly dangerous due to few desired effects, and significant undesirable stimulant side effects. At least sixteen samples were found to contain PMMA so far in 2026, the Trump presses now joining the Red Bull pills from July and a white Mitsubishi found the day before this alert.
2. According to Google, three of the ten most searched psychoactive substances this week were benzodiazepines that were under the radar a year ago: ethylbromazolam, bromonordiazepam and flubrotizolam. In drug checking results, one Austrian sample sold as alprazolam came back as flualprazolam. Sedatives sold under a brand name are often not what is indicated on the label.
3. What is in speed that is not speed (amphetamine)? Amphetamine purity came in at 68% this week against 61% for the twelve months before, although the actual quality is highly regional. In Poland for example, official police data puts the median below 20%. Detected impurities are the more interesting part, DPIA showed up in one sample and 1-PEA in three. DPIA is a byproduct of the Leuckart synthesis route, so it points at how the batch was cooked rather than at anything added afterwards. 1-PEA is closer to a filler: chemically it is a neighbour of amphetamine but with little if any of the effect. One Swiss sample sold as 4-MMC was 70% caffeine, 14% amphetamine and 13.4% 1-PEA. Across the year DPIA sits in 7.5% of amphetamine samples and 1-PEA in 6.4%, while caffeine is in more than eight of every ten.

Drug Purity Report #34/26. In this week’s report on drug market purity we are shining spotlight on fake hash, extreme MDMA pills and more PMMA.

1. A fake hash sample found in Zurich contained 2 different synthetic cannabinoids: MDMB-4en-PINACA and ADB-4en-PINACA. We remind all cannabis users that with the current availability of CBD, the financial incentive is much higher to sell synthetic cannabinoids than real classic THC products.
2. Pills closing in on almost 300 mg of MDMA detected in Spain’s Tarragona and in Basel, Switzerland. The first is a grey Grim Reaper with “350mg” stamped (283 mg MDMA detected), and the other an orange Master Roshi (260 mg MDMA)
3. Although PMMA was not detected this particular week, due to more samples detected in the recent days we are repeating the warning. PMMA has been found in multiple samples this year. It has hardly any expected effects of MDMA, while having plenty of the undesired effects. Using a test kit is essential to reduce the risk of PMMA poisoning.

• Doppleganger Ecstasy pills
  • Every pill should always be considered as different, as illustrated by most recent red TikTok and blue Punisher pills found in Austria. With half of the samples containing MDMA, and the other half caffeine, the risk of possible overdose increases exponentially. A weak effect (caffeine pill) can encourage person using it to ingest more and overestimate their tolerance.
• Multi-stimulant pills
  
  • Pills with both MDMA and caffeine were found in Austria, yet another kind of blue Punisher pressies. MDMA with amphetamine was found in a round orange pill in Innsbruck, and a Donkey Kong pill with NEP mixed with unknown compound was found in Slovenia, after recent detections in other countries throughout the region. 
• Cathinone diversity
  • As reported in the previous weeks, 4-MMC is increasingly rare and replacements are still all over the place. Those include from 3-CMC, 4-CMC, 2-MMC, 3-MMC, 4-BMC, and NEP, also reported by the Austrian lab as ethylpentedron, found this week.

Drug Purity Report #32/26. Welcome to “last week on drugs”, a new blog post series by PRO Test dedicated to reporting on drug market purity. This time – another week, another PMMA pill. On top of that more novel semi-synthetic cannabinoids and other research chemicals.

• Donkey Kong PMMA pill in Zurich, Switzerland

Whoever has been putting out pressies (pills) with PMMA is not taking it easy. Another pill found with PMMA, and another sighting of one previously spotted. Considering the scale of European drug market and the evident cross continental spread, it’s reasonable to assume that at least several thousands PMMA pills are currently in circulation.

• Delta-8-THO in Maribor, Slovenia

The Slovenian drug checking NGO Drogart reported new semi-synthetic cannabinoids, THC butanenitrile oximes (THO). More details from Drogart:

The results of the analysis conducted at the National Laboratory for Health, Environment and Food showed that a sample of cannabis purchased as cannabis with the semi-synthetic cannabinoid tetra-9-hydrocannabinol (T9HC) in a physical store in Maribor contained two other semi-synthetic cannabinoids, delta-9-THC butanenitrile oxime (delta-9-THO) and delta-8-THC butanenitrile oxime (delta-8-THO).

Not much information is available about the substances delta-8-THO and delta-9-THOV. Users of the aforementioned semi-synthetic cannabinoids have reported intense effects, dissociation, blurred vision, nausea and loss of appetite in the past. There is currently no additional information in the literature about the effects of delta-9-THO.

Synthetic and some semi-synthetic cannabinoids are extremely potent and unpredictable substances that can cause rapid loss of consciousness, slowed or labored breathing, epileptic seizures, convulsions, frequent vomiting, agitation, delirium, psychotic episodes, aggressive behavior, chest pain, irregular heartbeat, confusion, fainting, irritability, hallucinations, paranoia, and in the most severe cases, sudden death.

• Fake Xanax in Bern, Switzerland

A fake Xanax sample resembling the classic alprazolam pill checked by Swiss experts was found to contain Flualprazolam and Meclonazepam. With those compounds being so called “research chemicals” their risk profile is unclear, however flualprazolam is known to have longer lasting effects than alprazolam. Combined with possibly unfamiliar effects the overdose risk is high. In case of benzodiazepines overdose means memory loss, likely injury or other accident, significantly increased likelihood to follow bad ideas.

Drug Purity Report #31/26. We are back with another summary of the “last week on drugs”, the blog post series by PRO Test dedicated to reporting on drug market purity. This week we got more PMMA, cathinones and synthetic cannabinoids.

• PMMA is still around
  • The danger of finding PMMA in an Ecstasy pill remains relatively high. After multiple samples confirmed earlier this year now also a red-purple Red Bull pill containing 59 mg of PMMA was found in Vienna. PMMA is a hardly enjoyable substance, responsible for multiple deaths, but is also fortunately easy to spot using an MDMA test kit.
• Synthetic cathinones
  • The seek for 4-MMC replacement and obvious issues with availability are prevalent throughout Europe. People who tested samples assumed to be Mephedrone last week found 4-CMC and NEP. The latter, NEP, being much stronger (and not characterised as serotonergic), with particularly high overdose potential. Interestingly NEP was found pressed in same looking pill as the red-purple PMMA Red Bull.
• Synthetic cannabinoids
  • 1 sample from Austria was found with not 1, but 4 different synthetic cannabinoids. Although testing cannabis products is less common than e.g. powders, anecdotally the market has been increasingly saturated with synthetic cannabinoids at an astonishing rate. This can be attributed nowadays mostly to the availability of cheap and legal CBD and the unfortunate ignorance of most consumers, making deception easy. The risk for cannabis users is high. With fully synthetic cannabinoids (e.g. MDMB-INACA) posing an actual threat to life and kidneys, and semi synthetics (e.g. HHC-O) being at least unpredictable, testing cannabis products before use is a must – and costs pennies.

Therefore in this series of articles we will post updates, summaries and comments on the current state of drug quality, particularly in Europe.

• Cocaine
  • Samples tested in Vienna proved to be of low quality, and more classic purity than the 80%+ medians which recently dominate cocaine lab reports. Detected impurities were Caffeine, Levamisole, Phenacetin and Procaine, and median purity was just 38%. Definitely a familiar issue among people who use cocaine.
• Mephedrone
  • The 4-MMC situation continues to deteriorate, with increasing prevalence of less seeked out cathinones sold as mephedrone, such as 2-MMC, 3-CMC, 4-CMC, 4-BEC, NEP, both pure and mixed. Having said that, 4-MMC remains available, and interestingly is being pressed into pills more frequently. This might signal a broader shift towards marketing cathinones more aggressively to the general population.
• Pink craze
  • Roughly half of the pills tested were pink. Pink pills and powders remain to appear popular. This week’s featured image portrays the 4-CMC pill “Lisa Simpson”. It is often accompanied by 4-CMC pills “Bart Simpson”.
