Drug checking test kits come in 3 types: for identification, for quantity and for purity (identification + quantity). Identification tests are colour changing reagents or test strips. Quantity tests are colour changing reagents too. Purity (identification + quantity) tests are TLC (thin layer chromatography) tests.
