Drug Purity Report: Week 40, 2026

This article has been translated to English.

Drug Purity Report #40/26. Welcome to “last week on drugs”, the series by PRO Test that brings you new pieces of the drugs purity puzzle. This week we focus on synthetic cannabinoids and rare, really obscure stimulants. Available lab results originate in Western Europe, but the detected patterns are likely to have a much wider reach.

Data fatigue is real, so here we come to give you the gist of what’s going on out there. For more details, photos, and other information on thousands of drugs, head out straight to the DrugsPRO app.

1. Synthetic cannabinoids are not going anywhere. Semi-synthetics such as delta8-THC and HHC, with relatively similar safety and effect profile to THC, are least of the worries. Strong cannabinoid receptors agonists such as 5F-ADB or MDMB-PINACA are being spotted as well. Despite cannabis being the most popular controlled psychoactive substance, it constitutes a relatively small part of samples tested, but that doesn’t necessarily indicate the problem is small too. Most drug checking projects only accept cannabis samples with serious reported adulteration suspicion, due to high cost of laboratory analysis, and most people who use drugs are unaware they can test their product.

2. A stimulant curiosity: bupropion and diethylpropion, pharmaceuticals and cathinone derivatives, were found in pills and powders missold as mephedrone and MDMA (Bart Simpson pills). Bupropion is normally used as an antidepressant and smoking quitting aid, and diethylpropion is a more stimulating appetite suppressant. Those findings suggests sellers are having only ever increasing problems sourcing 3-MMC and 4-MMC and are scraping the barrel, desperate to sell anything. Another detected cathinone was 4-MEC, a novel psychoactive compound not of medical origin. It’s risk profile is largely unknown, and recreational effect commonly described as less desirable than Mephedrone’s.

Last Week at a Glance

  • 77 samples from 5 countries (Austria, Denmark, Slovenia, Spain and Switzerland) were included this week.
  • 35 samples contained a quantified result, including 20 pills and 3 LSD samples.
  • 13 samples contained more than one detected ingredient.
  • No supported purity or content change was available for comparison.

What People Searched For

Below is a list of substances people are searching for in the DrugsPRO app when coming from Google, ordered by how often they were searched over the past week. Something suddenly on the rise can stand out in search interest before it shows up in lab results.

# Substance Trend
1 NEP steady
2 Ethylbromazolam steady
3 MDPHP steady
4 Bromonordiazepam cooling
5 Flubrotizolam cooling
6 4-Pro-MET rising
7 4-Pro-MET cooling
8 1Fe-LSD cooling
9 Methiodone steady

Substances in Focus

Three substances covered in more detail this week: what they are, and how they are dosed and how long they last by route of administration. Doses and durations come from the DrugsPRO library and describe the substance itself, not any tested sample.

4-MEC

4-MEC is a substituted cathinone with stimulant and entactogen properties, structurally related to mephedrone. It has been marketed alone or blended with other cathinones under names such as “NRG-2” and has been identified as an active ingredient in counterfeit ecstasy tablets in some countries. Bupropion

Bupropion is an atypical antidepressant belonging to the substituted cathinone and phenethylamine classes. First marketed under the brand name Wellbutrin, it functions as a norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitor (NDRI) and is prescribed for major depressive disorder, seasonal affective disorder, and smoking… Read more on dose.wiki

Purity and Content

Below, the big number in each row is the typical result for 28 September–4 October 2026: half the samples came in stronger, half weaker. The smaller one in brackets is the same thing measured over the last twelve months.

No substance had enough quantified samples for this reporting period.

Most Common Adulterants and Other Impurities
