Are Galenika and Bensedin pills real?
This version has been translated from Polish and links to the relevant test kits have been added. In a life-threatening situation call 112. This article is informational and serves harm reduction. It does not encourage the use of psychoactive substances and does not replace medical advice.
About one in five of them is not what the blister says. We counted 101 pills branded Galenika, Bensedin, Ksalol or Elipam in the DrugsPRO alerts database, every one of them run through a laboratory by a drug checking service. 79 contained the benzodiazepine printed on the blister. The other 22 did not, and the only reason anybody knows which was which is that all 101 were tested.

Twenty samples in 101, one in five, contained a designer benzodiazepine instead of or alongside the pharmaceutical one. Ethylbromazolam accounts for most of them, and five of those also carried promethazine, an antihistamine that deepens sedation.
One that was not diazepam
A pill blistered as Bensedin Galenika Diazepam, submitted in Babergh and Tendring, England, on 15 June 2026. WEDINOS reported: expected diazepam, detected ethylbromazolam. Nothing about the blister looked wrong.

Why ethylbromazolam matters
It is a research chemical benzodiazepine, licensed nowhere, with no medical dose. Roughly 4 mg produces effects similar to 10 mg diazepam and it is active at single milligrams, so a blister marked 10 mg tells you nothing about how much of it was pressed in. There are 81 records of it in the alerts database, every one of them from the United Kingdom and all between March and July 2026: 53 from England, 18 from Wales, 10 unspecified. Fifty-eight were sold as diazepam or Valium and eleven as Xanax, so despite the reputation it has picked up, this is mostly turning up in fake diazepam rather than fake Xanax.
Ethylbromazolam in the substance library
Xanax is the worse half of this market
Widen the query and the failure rate gets worse, not better. Of 431 samples submitted as diazepam, 75% were diazepam, 8.6% ethylbromazolam and 2.3% bromazolam. Of 202 submitted as alprazolam or Xanax, only 44% were alprazolam: 9% were MDMA, 8% tramadol, and the rest ranged across bromazolam, clobromazolam, oxazepam, norflurazepam and chlorpheniramine. Somebody taking an unmarked "Xanax" bar to sleep has better than even odds of taking something that is not alprazolam, and a one in eleven chance of taking MDMA. Zimmermann separates the tablets carrying no benzodiazepine at all from the ones that do, which is the half of that problem a reagent can solve.
What a reagent can tell you
The zimmermann reagent indicates that a benzodiazepine is present and reads clonazepam distinctively. It does NOT separate alprazolam from clonazolam from etizolam from ethylbromazolam, because they are all triazolo compounds and they read alike. What it does rule out is a tablet with no benzodiazepine in it at all, which is the paracetamol pressing and the chlorpheniramine pressing.

What only a strip will catch
Of 643 samples in the database labelled or branded as a benzodiazepine, two contained a nitazene and eleven contained heroin or 6-MAM. That is rare. It is also the only outcome here where the failure mode is respiratory arrest rather than a long sleep, and no reagent shows you either one.

Questions?
Is Galenika a real pharmaceutical company?
Yes. Galenika a.d. is a Serbian manufacturer and Bensedin is its diazepam brand. The name being real is what makes it worth counterfeiting.
Where do the dose and pharmacology figures come from?
Our substance library, which aggregates dose.wiki, PsychonautWiki, TripSit and Erowid. The sample counts come from the alerts database and you can recount them yourself.
Can I spot a fake blister by looking at it?
No. The 20 mislabelled samples were submitted by people who believed they had what the blister said. Every one of those results came from a laboratory, not from an inspection.
Most of them were real. Is a test worth it?
A one in five chance of a different compound, at an unknown dose, in a class where the compounds do not share a potency. Zimmermann rules out the tablets that contain no benzodiazepine at all, and the strip covers the outcome that kills.
Does zimmermann identify diazepam?
It indicates a benzodiazepine and reads clonazepam distinctively. It does not separate diazepam from the designer benzodiazepines found in these samples.
What about Ksalol and Elipam?
Same picture. Ksalol is a Galenika alprazolam brand, Elipam an Elikem diazepam brand, and both are inside the 101.
How do I check my own press?
Search the logo in the alerts database. If nothing comes up, no service has published a result for it, which is not the same as it being clean.
