Mecke is reliable, and of the eleven reagents we sell it is the one we would add to marquis first. Mecke is a selenious acid preparation that reacts with opioids and with the MDxx compounds, and its value is that it disagrees with marquis in useful ways: where marquis gives near-identical results for several compounds, mecke often separates them.
What it is good at
Opioids are where it earns its reputation, reacting distinctly with morphine, heroin and codeine, and it gives a clear blue to black progression with MDMA and MDA. Paired with marquis it covers most of what turns up in a pressed pill, which is why both sit in every kit we build for pills.

Where it reads badly
The cathinones. Mecke gives weak and slow reactions across the MMC and CMC family, which is a problem because those compounds are now the most common thing in the samples European labs publish.
