Drug Purity Report Week 39, 2026

Drug Purity Report: Week 39, 2026

This article has been translated to English.

Drug Purity Report #39/26. Welcome to “last week on drugs”, the series by PRO Test that brings you updates on drug purity by shining light on the black market. The report is late this week and we are sorry for the delay: we have been busy expanding the DrugsPRO database from one year of results to the past ten, which now covers over 30,000 lab results. In this week’s edition: PMMA is getting even more dangerous and new cathinones on the market.

Data fatigue is real, so here we come to give you the gist of what’s going on out there. For more details, photos, and other information on thousands of drugs, head out straight to the DrugsPRO app.

PMMA danger is spreading. Unlike MDMA, this compound is likely to cause a life-threatening serotonin syndrome at relatively low doses. PMMA has already been confirmed this year in Austria, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and Switzerland, and multiple pills appear designed to fool a simple reagent test by combining PMMA with MDMA. We encourage readers to always pair a reagent test with a TLC purity test, which, unlike a reagent that only estimates how much MDMA is present, also shows the other substances in the sample and helps estimate how much of each there is.

More cathinones on the market. With the new ban on precursor chemicals in force in the EU, the chase for an MMC successor continues. Although 4-CMC remains the most popular choice, with relatively similar stimulating and serotonergic effects, sellers are trying other options. 4-Fluorocathinone, a novel compound with little available data, was found in Boom pills in Austria. We advise caution, especially because researchers are raising the alarm that new stimulants could be escaping simplified drug classifications.

Scam of the Week

Samples that were not what they were sold as. Substitutions like these can be picked up with a test kit before anything is taken.

Sold as Actually Samples
MDMA PMMA 2 samples
4-MMC Amphetamine 2 samples
4-MMC NEP 2 samples

Additional dishonourable mention: “Cocaine” from Vienna with 0% cocaine, but instead Caffeine 70%, Levamisole 15%, Phenacetin, Procaine and Tetracain.

Last Week at a Glance

  • 92 samples from 4 countries (Austria, Slovenia, Spain and Switzerland) were included this week.
  • 77 samples contained a quantified result, including 42 pills and 0 LSD samples.
  • 39 samples contained more than one detected ingredient.
  • MDMA was typically 111.5mg this week, against 157.5mg across the twelve months before.

What People Searched For

Below is a list of substances people are searching for in the DrugsPRO app when coming from Google, ordered by how often they were searched over the past week. Something suddenly on the rise can stand out in search interest before it shows up in lab results.

# Substance Trend
1 NEP cooling
2 Bromonordiazepam cooling
3 MDPHP steady
4 MXPCP steady
5 Ethylbromazolam cooling
6 4-Pro-MET rising
7 MGM-15 steady
8 Flubrotizolam cooling
9 4-CMC steady
10 1Fe-LSD cooling

Substances in Focus

Three substances covered in more detail this week: what they are, and how they are dosed and how long they last by route of administration. Doses and durations come from the DrugsPRO library and describe the substance itself, not any tested sample.

PMMA

PMMA, para-methoxymethylamphetamine, is a structural hybrid of PMA and methamphetamine that is sold as ecstasy, historically under logos such as Mitsubishi and Jumbo. Read more on euda.europa.eu

Oral

No dose range is shown for this substance. There is no dose that makes it safe, and drug-checking services advise against taking it at all.

NEP

N-ethylpentedrone offers stimulating and mildly entactogenic effects but little is known about its chronic risks. Reports point to harsh comedowns and strong compulsions to redose, so apply the same caution used with other potent cathinones. Read more on dose.wiki

Amphetamine

Amphetamine is a controlled substance with high abuse potential. Medical formulations include varying ratios of dextroamphetamine and levoamphetamine. Chronic use may lead to cardiovascular issues, neurotoxicity at high doses, and psychological problems including stimulant psychosis. Read more on dose.wiki

Bars are drawn to the same scale within a substance. An open-ended band such as “175+ mg” is shown reaching the end of the scale.

Purity and Content

Below, the big number in each row is the typical result for 21–27 September 2026: half the samples came in stronger, half weaker. The smaller one in brackets is the same thing measured over the last twelve months.

Samples Substance Typical purity / content
12 MDMA 111.5mg (157.5mg*)
half of samples 22.5 to 131.3mg
4 Cocaine 67% (88%*)
half of samples 63.5 to 71.3%
