What was found in tested NASA pills?

NASA pill reports can differ in colour, contents and strength. Recorded samples are most often pink (58%), grey (16%) and blue (6%). Of the 80 samples, 60 had a measured 2C-B content: from 2 mg to 24 mg, with half coming in above 12 mg and one in ten above 18 mg.

Appearance cannot identify a tablet, which is why every sample here was tested rather than judged by eye.

The badge is NASA's insignia, the one everyone calls the meatball, designed in 1959 by James Modarelli: a blue sphere for a planet, white stars, a red chevron and a spacecraft in orbit. It is a circle, which suits a round tablet almost too well, and that is most of the reason presses keep reaching for it.

What is inside matters more. Tablets stamped with this logo are overwhelmingly 2C-B rather than MDMA, a different substance with a far narrower dose window, and several samples also carried 2C-H, a by-product of 2C-B synthesis. A small number contained MDMA as well. DrugsPRO currently holds 80 photographed samples under this logo, most often pink, then grey and blue.

Across the 60 with a measured 2C-B content, results run from 2 mg to 24 mg, with half coming in above 12 mg. Those figures look tiny beside an ecstasy tablet, and they are not a sign of a weak pill: 2C-B is active at exactly this scale. The logo names no producer and guarantees nothing.

The NASA stamp is used on the illegal market for tablets of different composition. The name, the press and the colour are not reliable marks of a particular batch. Even tablets bought in the same place and looking the same can come from different production runs.

Laboratory results show wide differences in dose, purity and adulterants. A tablet sold as ecstasy can carry an unexpectedly high MDMA dose, other stimulants, or substances that were never declared. That is what raises the risk of overheating, circulatory problems, serotonin syndrome and overdose, and it is exactly what a test answers before anyone takes anything.

A reagent test tells you which group of substances a sample belongs to. How much of it is in the tablet is what a purity or quantity test answers, and a full laboratory analysis names every component.
